Course Reserves

Faculty may place on reserve required or recommended readings for their courses according to the fair use provisions of the U.S. Copyright Act of 1976. Articles, books and videos from our collection or personal copies of books may be placed on reserve in the Electronic Reserves System.

To place items on reserve a faculty member should submit a completed reserve form along with the items to be placed on reserve at least four weeks before the class will require the material. The following forms may be submitted electronically and are available for printing:

Reserve forms may also be obtained at the Circulation Desk. Material may remain on reserve for the semester. Items placed on reserve will be removed from that status at the end of the semester and returned either to library shelves or the faculty. Contact Ruth Hazzard (631-687-2633) for information on electronic reserves.

The library policy for placing photocopies of published copyrighted materials on reserve is derived from the fair use provision of the US Copyright Act of 1976.
